Swinging might have brought heat, conflict and division between the epic ladies of MomTok last season, but you know what might prove too strong for their bond? Fame and money.
Yup, you know things will definitely get nasty when the root of all evil is involved.
MomTok Speaks Candidly On How Money Has Affected Their Friendship
Do you think you can open and run a business with a good friend of yours? Well, that’s the same question that the ladies of MomTok are dealing with and failing.
This season, rather than obsess about their sexual proclivities and whatnot, they have decided to tackle the issue that’s been been causing tension between them head on: money.
And let’s face it: content creation has made some of the women capable breadwinners of their family, so anyone would understand why they would want to protect their bread and butter.
To clear the air and make sure everyone was still functioning on the same wavelength, Jessi Ngatikaura brought out the truth box, asking, “Are you worried Demi was willing to take a bigger contract even if it meant you would be dropped from the show?”
Laughingly, Demi Engemann replies, “We can’t run away from this.”
In a confessional, Jessi proceeds to tell fans why she raised the serious topic, admitting, “Demi and I did have a falling out a couple of months ago. It really rocked our friendship. We had a little disagreement about money.”
Mayci agreed with Jessi’s claims about Demi, saying, “Demi basically was willing for Jessi to be off the show so she could kind of get paid more.”
Taylor adds, “Jessi comes out and says, ‘Actually, I’m not gonna walk, so you can walk to me, but I’m not.’ “
“For me, I just said in my head, ‘I don’t want money to come between all of us,’ and I know I was on another way of thinking,” Jessi further explains.
But the real dish happened when Taylor admitted that Demi tried to gang the members of MomTok against Jessi. “Demi got on a whole other call with MomTok,” Taylor says, adding, “Demi’s like, ‘Yeah, f— Jessi at this point. Let’s push her to the side.’ She was talking mad s—.”
Back to the scene, Jessi chooses to take a defensive stance to the question, saying, “I also know I’m in a situation that’s different than everyone.”
Mikayla jokes, “I think if I was a millionaire, I wouldn’t care either.”
Demi Says She “Deserves” To Earn More Than Her Other ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Castmates
In a confessional, Demi decided to explain her side of the story, saying, “Jessi sits on an empire of this hair business and does really well financially, so it felt a little selfish to me.”
Jessi tried to understand where Demi is coming from, saying to the ladies, “The emotions were high, and I understood that she felt that way. I also don’t think, and I could be wrong, that it was her saying, ‘Specifically kick off Jessi and just give me a higher paycheck.’ “
Elsewhere, Jessi explained how Demi had wanted to circumvent everybody else just to get a bigger share for herself, even though they promised they would go into negotiation a united front.
Demi, defending her reason for doing so and standing her ground, says, “It’s not a shock that I was a fan favorite. I feel like I’m an asset. I should fight for more.”
