Meghan Markle Reveals She And Prince Harry Had To Undergo Healing After Leaving the Royal Family

Meghan Markle recently reflected on life post-Royal Family during her Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit appearance. Here’s what she has to say about the early days following her and her husband’s controversial royal exit.

Meghan Markle Opens Up About Her Family Experience in Britain

We’ve heard all about what made Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leave their posts as senior members of the Royal Family to pursue a different one in America. But do we know how they fared in the days following the big decision?

Well, in her chat with Fortune’s editor-in-chief Alyson Shontell, she revealed her exact feeling in those days.

“You know, Archie was so little, and I had just got pregnant with Lili around that same time, so we were nesting – nesting and healing. And also, I don’t know, I had the bandwidth at that time to think about what the big picture dream was. There was no plan.”

She added: “It was just, let’s get through these next couple of years, create community, which was always so important to both of us in our new environment.”

Meghan Markle Addresses New Netflix Contract: “Flexibility”

Since leaving the Royal Family, Meghan and Harry have devoted time and energy to building their brand, and the formula seems to be working so far as far Meghan is concerned.

Yeah, there were a few studs on the way, like the multiple rebrands they had to undergo to get to where they are currently, or losing their multi-million dollar Spotify deal right off the bat. But in the end, what matters to Meghan is that they still have a platform to keep building.

“My husband and I were in an overall deal with Netflix, and then not just similar to Higher Ground in the Obamas’ deal, once that had come to its term, the extension of it, which was such an incredible sign of the strength of our partnership, was now being in a first look deal,” she said.

“Which is also exciting, because it gives us flexibility to go to our partners first, and then at the same time, to be able to shop content that might not be the right fit for Netflix, but has a home somewhere else.”

She then hinted that more projects are coming, saying, “So for our non scripted team and our scripted team, we’ve been doing a lot of content development that can meet different rooms.”
