The TLC hit Sister Wives has kept viewers hooked for over a decade — but fans are now wondering if the end might be closer than expected.
The speculation kicked into high gear after patriarch Kody Brown revealed he’s stepping into unfamiliar territory: Season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test on FOX.
TLC has confirmed that Season 20 of Sister Wives has already been filmed, yet Kody’s surprising leap to a rival network’s high-intensity celebrity competition has fueled online whispers that his time in polygamist family reality TV may be winding down.
Kody’s “Most Exciting Experience of an Age”
On August 8, Kody made a rare appearance on Instagram, posting a teaser reel for the upcoming season along with a cheeky caption:
“This was the most exciting experience of an age! Tune in and watch me and my peers suffer! Wanna see me cry? No… like full-on sobbing!”
For a man who doesn’t post often, the announcement drew immediate attention — and questions.
Many fans assumed he was bound by an exclusivity clause with TLC, making appearances on other networks off-limits. That assumption quickly turned into online debates over what his new gig might mean for Sister Wives.
Reddit Reacts: “Sister Wives Is Dead”
On Reddit, the theories came pouring in. One user bluntly declared:
“Sister Wives is dead, and he needs money to keep Robyn (Brown) in the style to which she’s accustomed. That’s what this is. He’ll be doing the D-grade celebrity reality show circuit now. Get excited.”
Others took a more sarcastic approach.
“I can’t wait until the Marriage Boot Camp phase of their career,” wrote one fan, while another quipped, “Next up, 90 Day Fiancé to find Robyn a new sister wife!” A fourth chimed in with, “Could you imagine him on Celebrity Big Brother? He would annoy the crap out of everyone in the house.”
What Awaits on Special Forces
Filmed in Morocco, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test pushes its celebrity recruits to the breaking point.
The show’s fourth season promises grueling scenarios inspired by real U.S. Special Forces training — from racing through an abandoned village to escape extraction, to crawling through pitch-black tunnels, to a terrifying underwater plane shell escape drill, and even a high-stakes ladder crossing 50 feet above the streets.
Unlike most competition shows, there are no formal eliminations. Participants can leave at any time simply by handing in their armband — often after enduring punishing conditions that test their mental and physical limits.
The Star-Studded Lineup
Kody won’t be alone in the chaos. The cast includes RHONJ star Teresa Giudice and her daughter Gia, RHOA alum Eva Marcille, The Valley’s Brittany Cartwright, and actor Jussie Smollett.
Also joining are Eric Decker and Jessie James Decker, podcaster Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, Mark Estes, Olympian Shawn Johnson and her husband Andrew East, model Chanel Iman, actor Ravi V. Patel, Olympian Christie Pearce Rampone, NBA star Nick Young, and former NFL players Randall Cobb and Johnny Manziel.
FOX will premiere Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Season 4 on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 9 p.m. ET.
As for Sister Wives, the show is currently on hiatus — but with Kody’s new venture making headlines, fans can’t help but wonder if this is the beginning of a whole new chapter for the reality TV figure, or the closing act of the one that made him famous.
