Former The Voice contestant Kata Hay ended up apprehended by the police this week. The news that arrived wasn’t good, because the singer had a warrant out from Tennessee. Read on for more details about the latest true crime report to hit social media.

Vehicular Homicide

Kata faces charges of vehicular homicide, per TMZ who broke the story. While the warrant was from Tennessee, the arrest took place in Oklahoma. The “Osage County Sheriff’s Office” confirmed the arrest. In their report, they mentioned that a deputy arrested Hay, whose real name is Kata Huddleston, early Wednesday morning. After that, she was booked in the Osage County Jail. Reportedly, she appears before a judge on Monday for extradition purposes.

Apparently, the warrant followed a fatal crash in Tennessee. The Goodlettsville Police Department identified Hay as a person of interest in a crash on “Long Hollow Pike.” As a matter of fact, they had already put The Voice alum on a watch list. Early indications suggested that Kata Hay might have been “driving with a white male and could have been pulling a big camper” to Oklahoma.

Other Charges

Documents revealed that there were more charges related to the singer. They included a second DUI case in Davidson County. Plus, the list also contained charges for leaving the scene of an accident and for possession of an open alcohol container. According to the news, the latest events occurred on December 10.

Notably, this wasn’t the first time that Hay was involved in legal troubles. In 2022, she faced charges of an intimate crime against a minor and pleaded guilty. As a result, the judge sentenced her to six months in jail.

At the moment, Hay sits in police custody waiting for the extradition hearing in Oklahoma. Notably, the spokesperson for The Voice alum didn’t respond to requests for comments.

Readers React To The News

When TMZ shared the news on Instagram, not many true crime followers reacted. Mainly it seemed, because so few people remember her from The Voice. After all, 2016 was very nearly 10 years ago now. While she did rather well with Aretha Franklin’s “A Natural Woman” she didn’t go on and make it into the Top 12.

Still, she makes music to this day, and @kataandtheblaze on YouTube describes her as “a crazy rambling redhead with a guitar.”

However, some folks were a bit shocked. Perhaps, they hadn’t heard about her previous run-ins with the law. One of them simply wrote, “WOW.”

Meanwhile, others seemed bored by the true crime news and started talking about sports. In the sporadic comments that contained a lot of memes, one person opined that she should be “whipped” for her behavior.
