GH Star Eva LaRue’s Real-Life Stalking Nightmare Profiled In New Documentary

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that stalkers have taken center stage in many storylines within the land of Port Charles.

While Natalia Ramirez has yet to worry about this, her portrayer, Eva LaRue, has already experienced this type of terror.

Now, a documentary is on the cusp of release that addresses the real-life nightmare LaRue and her daughter, Kaya Callahan, went through.

A Truth Story

The name of the documentary that is slated to premiere on Paramount+ in late 2025 is ‘My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story’, and it is currently in production.

It outlines the 12 years the actress and her daughter were stalked until the perpetrator was finally caught and sent to prison.

LaRue stated (via Deadline), “This documentary shares a deeply painful time in my and my daughter’s life—an experience shared by nearly 13.5 million stalking victims each year.”

She added, “Stalking is a global crisis, often involving violence and lasting psychological trauma. Yet many victims are denied justice due to weak laws, limited awareness, and the challenge of proving these crimes.”

She goes on to say, “I hope my story raises awareness and helps drive meaningful change in how authorities protect victims and pursue justice.”

How It Began … How It Ended

LaRue was a teenage beauty queen who modeled and eventually landed in soap operas when she scored the Dr. Maria Santos role on All My Children (AMC).

She’d go on to snag a part on the prime time hit, CSI: Miami from 2005-12, and it was at this point in her career (in 2007) when dark and threatening letters started arriving at her house signed by “Freddie Krueger”. Many know this as a fictional villain from the horror franchise, Nightmare on Elm Street.

The situation escalated in 2015, when the actress’s daughter began receiving letters of her own.

In addition, the stalker began contacting Kayla’s school, claiming to be her dad and wanting to pick her up. Of course, Kayla’s real dad is Eva’s ex-husband, John Callahan (ex-Edmund Grey, AMC).

As per Soap Opera Digest (SOD), the FBI was able to track down DNA from the envelopes in 2019, narrowing their search to James David Rogers.

The man who resided in Ohio was eventually arrested and pleaded guilty to one count of threats by interstate communications, two counts of stalking, and two counts of mailing threatening communications. Rogers is currently serving a 40-month federal prison term after being sentenced in September 2022.
