General Hospital Spoilers: Best Recast Of 2025 – Rory Gibson As Michael Corinthos

General Hospital spoilers tease that in January of 2025, Chad Duell left the role of Michael Corinthos. He had been playing Michael for several years at that point and was quite popular in the role.

Michael’s exit in January was quite tragic for the character. He had been visiting his father, Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Bernard) penthouse when suddenly the whole floor was covered in flames. Michael himself was burned beyond recognition.

He also almost killed by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), but the staff at General Hospital managed to save him.

Michael Corinthos Was Sent Out Of The Country

Michael was soon sent out of the country in order to receive an experimental burn treatment. There was no indication of how long Michael would be gone. But Michael was in the middle of a huge custody dispute with his soon-to-be ex-wife, Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen).

Willow made several bad choices, including taking the kids out of town without Michael’s permission so before he left, the two were very much at odds, mostly due to her relationship with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).

Michael’s family tried to step in, but a court date was fast approaching and without Michael there, there was no telling what the outcome would be.

Everything Changed At The Nurses’ Ball

Then in May, the Nurses’ Ball commenced. The last number was performed by several of the children of Port Charles, including Michael and Willow’s son, Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver).

At the end of the performance, Michael scooped Wiley up and took him far away. He had already taken their daughter, Amelia Corinthos as well.

Willow, along with everyone else, was stunned to see Michael back. But now Michael was being portrayed by Rory Gibson.

Michael Corinthos Returned A Changed Man

As played by Duell, Michael was basically a nice guy. Gibson’s version retained that quality but has added a much darker edge.

Michael seems angrier now, He’s willing to do just about anything to save his children from Willow, who he believes is a terrible threat to their children. Gibson’s version of Michael has chemistry with every other actor he works with.

It was never going to be easy to replace Duell, but Gibson has managed to do the impossible. Whatever happens next, Michael will no longer just let things happen around him.
