Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates reveal whether you adore her or can’t stand her, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) is making her comeback to stir things up in Salem.
Continue reading to discover when Gwen will be back on your screens and get the latest updates on casting for the Peacock soap.
The New Head Writers’ Material Will Soon Start Airing
DOOL fans are now experiencing storylines crafted by the new head writers following Ron Carlivati’s departure from the soap in 2024.
Although his scripts will continue to air until April due to the show’s filming schedule, the new writers have shared a glimpse of upcoming changes.
They plan to emphasize the legacy families, including the DiMeras, Hortons, and Bradys, as well as the Deveraux family.
It’s still uncertain Abigail Deveraux DiMera, (Marci Miller), is alive; meanwhile, Jack Deveraux ( Matt Ashford), is set to reunite with his daughter Gwen, last seen in Salem in October 2023.
In a twist, Gwen left town just as Theresa Donovan, also portrayed by Emily O’Brien, made her return.
Theresa Was In Prison, Then Returned, And Then Left Salem To Care For Her Mother
In July 2024, Theresa went to prison after it was revealed that she forged a letter claiming Alex Kiriakis ( Robert Scott Wilson) was the rightful heir to the Kiriakis family fortune.
In reality, Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) is the legitimate heir and the son of Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston).
Theresa made a brief return to Salem following her release from prison but soon departed for California to care for her mother, who is battling a recurrence of cancer.
Fans can look forward to seeing Emily O’Brien back on screen as Gwen, with her return scheduled for July 7, 2025.
Fans’ Reactions To Gwen’s Impending Return
Emily O’Brien undoubtedly showcases her talent as an actress, yet many fans of Days are growing weary of the constant back-and-forth between Theresa and Gwen. Social media has been buzzing with reactions to Gwen’s return.
One viewer expressed frustration, stating, “It’s absurd to bring her back when Theresa has so many more compelling reasons to be in town, especially in July when Tate is about to become a father.”
Another chimed in, questioning, “Does anyone actually like this character? She had the potential to be so much more than just Jack’s unknown daughter.” A third viewer added, “What could possibly justify her return to Salem? I see absolutely no reason for her presence—ugh!”
More Returns, Some Short-Term
Nevertheless, Gwen isn’t the only familiar face making a comeback in Salem, as some other characters have also returned after their departures. DOOL fans can look forward to the return of many beloved characters later this year as the show celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Alison Sweeney and Louise Sorel have recently reprised their roles as Sami Brady and Vivian Alamain; according to Soap Opera Digest, both characters will be around for a while.
The publication also announced that the role of Arianna Horton has been recast, with Marissa Reyes taking over as Will (Chandler Massey) and Gabi’s (Cherie Jimenez) daughter starting in May.
