Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates reveal yet another surprising casting update has emerged as Days of Our Lives announces the recasting of Chad DiMera, formerly Billy Flynn.
Now Chad will be played by Conner Floyd from Young and Restless, where he currently portrays Chance Chancellor on the CBS soap.
Floyd Starts Filming At The NBC Peacock Soap On June 23
Deadline has reported that Floyd is scheduled to start filming for DAYS on June 23. However, due to the advanced filming schedule of the Peacock soap, viewers won’t see him as Chad until April 2026.
This marks a ten-month lead time, an increase from the previous nine months, which had already stretched from six!
The character of Chad DiMera was first played by Casey Deidrick in 2009, and after he left in 2013, Billy Flynn took over the role in 2014. In March 2025, it was announced that Flynn would be leaving DAYS after 11 years.
Chad DiMera’s History On The NBC Peacock Soap
Flynn was to join The Young and The Restless as the new Cane Ashby, a role previously held by Daniel Goddard, who is now Professor Henry Dalton on General Hospital. When the news broke, there was no information on what DAYS planned for Chad’s character.
However, Executive Producer Ken Corday told TV Insider, “We support Billy as an actor and friend, and wish him nothing but continued success and happiness, personally and professionally. He will certainly be missed in Salem.”
Flynn shared his thoughts on the recast in an Instagram Story, congratulating Floyd; “Chad is in great hands,” he wrote. “You’re gonna crush it, man.”
More About Conner Floyd
Floyd became part of the Y&R cast in November 2021, taking on the frequently recast role of Chance Chancellor. Prior to his daytime debut, he had roles in films such as A Kiss on Candy Cane Lane, Malicious Motives, Stolen in Her Sleep, and The Last Deal.
Recently, Chance has not appeared much on Y&R, with his last scenes in April focused on assisting the Genoa City Police Department in rescuing two kidnapped women.
Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) had been kidnapped and imprisoned by a psychiatrist who was really a madman.
Additionally, Allison Lanier’s departure as Summer Newman in May left Chance without his on-screen love interest.
Flynn Debuted On Y&R On June 19 Appearing With Floyd
Flynn made his debut as the new Cane on Y&R in the episode that aired on June 19. During the week of the 23rd he will share scenes with Floyd as Cane and Chance confront each other, marking Cane’s reintroduction to the storyline.
Currently, there is no news on whether Chance will be recast or simply removed from the show.
However, by the end of the week of June 23, Phyllis and Sharon are reminded of their past traumas.
Additionally, a mystery is hinted at, with rumors suggesting that Chance might be killed off, leading to the discovery of his body.
Chad Has Been Growing Closer To Cat Greene, His Late Wife’s Impersonator
Over on Days of Our Lives, Chad has been developing a closer relationship with Cat Greene, played by AnnaLynne McCord, causing friction between Chad and his mother-in-law.
This situation has been quite awkward since her character was initially introduced while pretending to be his deceased wife, Abigail DiMera (portrayed by Marci Miller).
Although Flynn’s departure appeared to put an end to that storyline, the recasting of Chad’s character allows it to proceed.
What are your thoughts on this unexpected switcheroo-much has been made on social media recently of Flynn’s and Floyd’s resemblance to one another.
YR fans, do you like Flynn as Cane, and DOOL fans, do you think Floyd is a good choice to replace him?
