Charlie Kirk, Conservative Commentator Shot Dead At Age 31 – Killer Still At Large

Conservative commentator, author, and podcaster Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck and killed on Wednesday, September 10, during a Utah Valley University event. The state’s governor, Spencer Cox, described the incident as a ‘political assassination’ and American President, Donald J. Trump, uploaded a message on social media, addressing the incident hours after it occurred.

As of this writing, authorities have not identified a suspect. FBI Director Kash Patel has stated that an unnamed individual has been detained for questioning but has been released. Authorities continue to investigate.

President Donald Trump’s Vow

In a video message posted to social media shortly after Kirk’s death, Trump talked about assassination, stating he is filled with both grief and anger at the heinous act. He added that this was a ‘dark moment for the nation’, and his administration would find those who contributed to the incident, including organizations that fund and support it. He spoke about Kirk’s legacy and work, plus his strong Christian faith.

In honor of Kirk, Trump has ordered all U.S. government flags to be placed at half-staff until this Sunday, September 14.

What Happened?

Kirk, aged 31, was addressing an outdoor audience, with approximately 3,000 in attendance, at the Utah University campus at 12:20 p.m. (MT) when a gunshot was heard. Kirk was seen moving his hand close to his neck when he fell off his chair, while on the microphone, answering a question from the audience. The New York Times is reporting that Ellen Treanor, university spokesperson, said the suspect likely shot Kirk from a building rooftop, 180 meters away from where he was at.

Founder & President of Turning Point U.S.A., he also hosted The Charlie Kirk Show, je often toured university campuses across America, engaging in political debates and had built a large following on his social media based on his beliefs, both political and his faith. Social media videos of the shooting quickly began to circulate of the incident, as authorities continue their manhunt.
