Allison Lanier OUT As The Young and the Restless’ Summer Newman

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal some sad news in the land of Genoa City, as actress Allison Lanier recently confirmed her exit as Summer Newman on the CBS soap. SOS has all the details below.

Allison Lanier’s X Post Confirms Departure

Lanier jumped on X, formerly known as Twitter, and announced the news that she’s leaving The Young and the Restless. In fact, her final appearance on the show will take place later this week. (Make sure to check out our next week Y&R spoilers, here!)

In her X post, she states, “Hey guys!! This Friday, May 2nd will be my last episode on Y&R! I’ve loved the journey and learned so much but it’s time to grow in a different direction … very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me.”

While Lanier is exiting the role of Summer Newman this Friday, it’s unclear if Summer Newman herself will be exiting the canvas. Only time will tell.

What Happens Next With Summer Newman?

It’s sweeps month, so it’s hard to think that the Y&R wouldn’t capitalize on Lanier’s departure by having something massive happen to Summer to usher in the actress’s exit.

The soap could have a recast on hand already – then again, they might be currently on the lookout, or perhaps the show will decide to take a Summer break.

As the offspring of Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), Summer Newman is a legacy character on the show and truly changed the dynamics of the soap opera from the day she arrived in GC.

‘Super girl’, as affectionately referred to by her dad, is a key player on canvas, as fans have watched Summer grow from a baby to a child, a teen, a young adult, and become a mother in her own right.

Of course, she was also one-half of Skyle, a major GC super couple for their time, along with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).
