When Blake Shelton shared the news of his decision to step back from The Voice – after being one of four coaches on the show from 2011 to 2023 – he made it sound like he wasn’t coming back, or even if he was it would be for some really special episode like a reunion take or something.
But no, shortly after Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine shocked fans by coming back on The Voice, the ‘Happy Anywhere’ hitmaker shared that he’s returning for the very next season.
I think someone desperately misses his old rivalry with the “Sugar” vocalist and would love nothing more than to get back into the flow of things. Joke’s on him because Levine didn’t wait to get on the hot seat to start dishing it out.
Adam Levine Says He’s Not Looking Forward To Blake Shelton’s Return
I think we need a cute celebrity rivalry at least once every year. To be honest, I did enjoy Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman ribbing each other perhaps a little too much. So you can bet that I’m seated for Levine and Shelton to resume theirs.
“Boo!” Levine exclusively told E! News backstage May 12. “You hear me, Blake Shelton? Right now, you hear me at home? I’m not excited that you’re coming back and I don’t like you.”
Shelton’s not gonna like that, that’s for sure.
But the elephant in the room remains this: will Levine be returning for season 28, because we need to take this drama all the way back to The Voice.
His response? “Perhaps. Maybe…if they ask me.”
On behalf of The Voice execs, I would love to formally invite Adam Levine to join Blake Shelton on the upcoming season of The Voice.
Adam Levine Cheers His Team On Ahead of Season Finale
This season has been a tough one for Levine, who freely admitted that his fellow coaches John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé brought in a good game.
“I feel good,” the 46-year-old admitted. “It’s gonna be tough. There’s some worthy competitors over there. But I feel good. I think my team is super amazing and I hope for nothing but the best for them. That’s all we can really do at this point. It’s kind of out of our hands. You have to just kind of cheer them on.”
But if you think that Team Adam is going to just roll up and be intimidated by the competition, Levine added, “We still got some tricks up our sleeves.”
You can watch the NBC singing show’s season finale on the network this coming May 20 at 9 p.m.
