Abby Lee Miller Begs ‘DWTS’ Producers for a Permanent Judge Spot

The Dance Moms star, known for her blunt critiques and no-nonsense coaching style, is making it clear she wants a permanent seat at the Dancing With the Stars judging table — a position she says she was offered years ago but couldn’t accept at the time. Now, she’s hoping the door is still open.

Fans Are Losing Patience With Current DWTS Judges

The current panel — Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba — hasn’t exactly been winning fan approval lately. Viewers have been voicing their frustration online, accusing the judges of playing favorites and being inconsistent with their feedback.

Though the trio has admitted that this season’s heightened level of competition forces them to be “a bit tougher,” that hasn’t stopped calls for a shakeup.

Abby Lee Miller Wants Her Shot

Abby Lee Miller, who previously appeared as a guest judge on Dancing With the Stars, says she was once offered the permanent role — not once, but three times. However, a strict contract with another network stood in the way.

“They wanted me to do the show. Three years [in a row] they asked me, and my contract with the other network didn’t allow it,” Miller explained. “So I did a guest spot because I was only allowed to be on another network every 13 episodes of my show. It was very constrictive, unfortunately. So there you go. I would’ve liked to stay.”

She added that her guest stint came at a pivotal time for the show: “When I judged, it was right when they brought lyric and contemporary [dances] in, and so Deena Katz, the producer, wanted somebody [where] that was their field, their ballpark, and it’s still happening. So I think I should be [back]. Deena, if you’re listening.”

Could a Judge Shake-Up Be on the Way?

Rumors of a possible panel change next season have already been swirling, and Abby’s open plea might just add more fuel to the fire.
