90 Day Fiancé used to engage the interest of fans who watched the show for “real couples” who met online mostly and then spent 90 days deciding if they would go next level or not. But these days, it all seems so fake, and now fans are slamming the entire franchise. Mostly, the anger seems directed at the older couples on TLC.
Fakery Is All Too Common
Admittedly, sometimes, the problems behind the scenes are real. In fact, for a long time, viewers believed that Tiffany Franco and Ronald Smith acted on the edge of divorce on screen and then seemed happy on social media. But in the end, they did split permanently. But others make people suspect it’s all for the money and a career on TV.

This week on Reddit, an OP on took aim at Brandon Gibbs and Julia Trubkina as prime examples of those with on-screen issues. But on social media, everything seems just fine and dandy. And then, in the comments, other people pointed out other couples that seem to be totally fake and acting out for a storyline on the show.
The OP said:
Brandon and Julia have found this money glitch where they get to pretend to have marital problems on camera for a few months, get paid by TLC, and then spend that money traveling the world and posting cute couple pictures from their trips as if nothing ever happened.
New Couples Are Boring, Older Ones Are Fake?
In the comments section, some TLC fans agreed that with Julia, even her so-called enmity with her mother-in-law seems fake because they make cutesy reels together. Meanwhile, others disbelieve that Jovi Dufren and Yara Zaya ever had problems. One fan commented, “And Jovi and Yara are just fine too…”
Meantime, it seems that nobody believes for a second that Liz and Andrei plan a move to Moldova. One skeptic wrote, “You really think Liz and Andrei were going to move to Moldova? I don’t follow either of them but guarantee if I were to check their Instagram, they are still in Florida.”
One TLC fan suggested that more new couples are needed, but as another person noted, “We just had new couples on 90 Day Fiancé and everyone complained it was boring. I guess the producers can’t win lol.” Nevertheless, there does seem to be a lack of selecting those people with more interesting lives. Maybe they need more of people like Brian Muniz and Loren Allen.
Not Blaming The TV Stars?
While it seems that most folks are fed up with the fakery on 90 Day Fiancé, most people agree that they understand the motivation to drag out lies. One person summed it up by saying, “Reality TV is a job. If TLC chooses to keep them, why would they turn it down?”
The trouble is that the cast doesn’t earn that much, so they need to capitalize on their social media presence. And often, what they post there either answers any question or telegraphs the outcome, so fans really don’t need to watch the spinoffs. That takes away the edge for many folks. As one of them noted, “I’m no longer excited for Sundays.”
What are your thoughts? Are any of the returning couples genuine? And do you agree that the newer couples seem to be selected right out of the boring box? Sound off in the comments below and come back here often for all your 90 Day Fiancé news and updates.
