However, some believe Charles is eagerly working to repair his relationship with his estranged son Harry.
King Charles and Prince William Held Summit To Discuss Harry’s Future Within The Monarchy
In early January, the Monarchy received a deep blow as a result of the health crisis of two of its most senior royals: Princess Kate and King Charles.
At the time, Harry showed interest in returning to be a part time royal, but reports revealed William firmly blocked the move.
While some still think Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, may try to suggest a half-in half-out approach to being royals – they originally suggested this to the late Queen but the notion was rejected – Palmer believes it would be turned down flat.
“I just can’t see it happening. I just don’t think it’s on the cards,” esteemed reporter Palmer recently told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show. “Although I have to say at the time of the Sandringham Summit a senior royal aide who was very close to the now King, was saying that this was entirely possible.”
He added: “They were open to discussions but something changed and the Queen, encouraged by Charles and Prince William, essentially said ‘no, we can’t countenance this, there’s no way back, they’re either in or they’re out’.”
The rift between Prince William and Harry has only widened through the years, with many now predicting it may remain fractured forever.
And this is something that’s “sad” for some royal experts, especially since the two brothers were once so close.
“They were really, really close. And this is what makes it so sad that they’re now so far apart,” Charles Rae told The Sun.
In fact, back in the good old days when the relationship was all sweet brotherly love, many had conjectured that Harry might well be William’s top adviser. Sadly, no one’s holding out hopes for it these days.
