Season 5 of You on Netflix
On Monday, March 25 Netflix revealed that season 5 of You is now in production, starring Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg. Meanwhile, they also advised that this will be the last season, teasing by sharing a clean-shaven image of Joe, strolling the streets of New York City.
Meanwhile, the fact that Joe has ditched his beard is not the only new development ahead of season 5. It was recently confirmed by Netflix that several new cast members will appear in the fifth and final season.
These new additions include Griffin Matthews (The Flight Attendant), who will play the brother of Joe’s new wife, Kate (Charlotte Ritchie). Meanwhile, Anna Camp (Hysteria!) plays two roles – Kate’s identical twin sisters, while Madeleine Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale) plays a young woman who makes Joe reconsider his new life.
Season 4 of the Netflix series
Fans may recall that season 4 of You relocated Joe to London. There, after faking his own death, he started over as a college professor named Jonathan Moore. However, old habits die hard and Joe soon lapsed into his murderous ways again. However, after finding love in London, he is back in New York City for the final chapter of his life on Netflix.
Meanwhile, with Joe returning from the dead, this could bring several familiar faces into the show. People like Dr. Nicky (John Stamos) and Ellie (Jenna Ortega) could potentially star in the final season of You.
At the end of season 4, then-showrunner Sera Gamble told TVLine that they have kept “scrupulous track of everybody who knows anything about Joe who’s not dead.”
Gamble then clarified this, explaining that “the ones who are dead could still appear in dreams and hallucinations.” She also added that there are some very smart people who are alive, adding:
Some of them are in jail, and some of them are basically in witness protection, but there’s no reason to believe he’s safe.
At this stage, Netflix has released no news of the premiere date of You season 5. However, it is likely that one production is done, the news will be announced, but it is expected to start streaming in 2024.
