According to the lawsuit, Melissa gave Isbella’s school proper documentation about her religious beliefs and the reasons why she refused a COVID-19 vaccine.

The school then told Melissa that they were denying her request. This is when Melissa knew that she needed to take proper legal action.

According to the lawsuit, “Isabella suffered emotional distress, including suffering embarrassment, humiliation, indignity, and other mental anguish.”

Melissa has demanded “compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorney’s fees, and costs of suit, and such other relief as the Court may deem proper and just.”

Isabella’s school claims that they did not discriminate against her and that taking the vaccine was outlined in her clinical coursework.

They also mentioned that when interns are working in environments such as senior living facilities, they can expose the patients to a variety of illnesses that could make them incredibly ill. This is one of the reasons that they do require a COVID-19 vaccine.
