On April 23, Prince Edward and Sophie were overlooked for official new appointments, leading fans to wonder whether the King had tossed aside his latest “chosen couple.”

On that day, Princess Kate made history as the first royal to be named as the Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honour.

Prince William was appointed as Great Master of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath. King Charles left the role vacant in 2022 when he acceded to the throne.

The British Royal website describes the Companion of Honour as a special award given to people who have made substantial achievements in fields such as arts, science, medicine or government through the years.

Past recipients of the prestigious honor include bishop Desmond Tutu, actress Dame Maggie Smith, physicist Stephen Hawking, and politician John Major.

However, on April 25, the King proved he had not forgotten the important role Edward and Sophie played in steering the monarchy right by giving them their biggest role ever.

They were the leading royals during the celebration of Anzac Day. The commemorative day marks the anniversary of the start of the First World War Gallipoli landings. Traditionally, this major role were often enacted traditionally by the King and Queen.

Anzac Day is also a national day of remembrance for Australia and New Zealand. The day is spent honoring the service members of the armed forces who have served, fought and died for their country.

No one knows the role Edward and Sophie will continue to play in the Monarchy now that the King is returning to public-facing duties. The Princess of Wales’ return engagement is yet to be announced.
