Prince George is gearing up to be a great artist, and at just ten years old, he’s already following in his mother Princess Kate, grandfather King Charles and his late grandfather Prince Philip’s footsteps. You know, the great artists what come before.
Prince George Gearing Up To Follow In King Charles’ Artistic Footsteps
Prince George may grow up to treat painting as a hobby, like his grandfather King Charles, but he’s already so good people think he’ll make one hell of a professional painter.
Just last year, proud parents William and Kate posted one of Prince George’s festive watercolor paintings, where he skillfully painted a reindeer in the snow with two colourful robins in the background.
The picture was apparently so good it drew the attention of the artist who inspired the artwork.
Hannah Dale told Hello! at the time, “He’s obviously got talent. He has an eye for form and colour. It was lovely. It was really lovely to see.”
She continued: “I think having a love of animals and love of nature is obviously something that’s maybe captured his attention. That inspires me very much. It’s a real privilege to inspire any child to want to draw or paint. It was a really lovely compliment.”
With such a “lovely” eye to attention, George looks set to become a keen artist like his grandfather King Charles, whose artwork was first exhibited at Windsor Castle in 1977.
In 2022, 70 of Charles’s watercolours were on display at The Garrison Chapel in Chelsea, London. Among these are beautiful paintings of places, including the picturesque landscapes of Scotland, and scenes from Provence and Tanzania.
Speaking about the exhibition, he said: “You become increasingly aware of things that may have escaped your attention previously – things like the quality of light and shade, of tone and texture and the shape of buildings in relation to the landscape.”
He continued: “It all requires the most intense concentration and, consequently, is one of the most relaxing and therapeutic exercises I know. In fact, in my case, I find it transports me into another dimension which, quite literally, refreshes parts of the soul which other activities can’t reach.”
Another royal with a knack for painting is Prince Philip, who once gifted Princess Eugenie with a painting featuring a bunch of flowers for her wedding gift.
