General Hospital comings and goings reveal Michael E. Knight leaving his role as attorney Martin Grey…for now.
General Hospital Spoilers – What Happened To Marty Grey?
When GH fans saw Martin Grey board a plane last week with Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) trying to stop him, we didn’t know we were saying goodbye to Laura Collins’s (Genie Francis) big brother and Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) little brother.
But alas, that was Knight’s swan song as Marty, the attorney with the southern accent who ratted Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) out to Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and broke attorney-client privilege.
Marty had also just broken up with Lucy because he couldn’t stand her relationship with Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner). So, he decided to visit his beloved mother for a bit and get away from Port Charles and all its drama.
Too bad he didn’t know that Lucy wasn’t far behind because she decided she wanted Marty over Scott, despite just sleeping with Scott.
While the door has been left open for Marty and Knight’s return, it is unclear whether we will ever see him again.
GH Spoilers – Michael E. Knight’s Soap Career
The Emmy-winning Knight came to daytime fame in the 1980s as Tad “The Cad” Martin on All My Children, a role he played off and on (mainly on) until 2011 when AMC was canceled.
Tad’s romance with Cady McClain’s Dixie Cooney was legendary and fans were clamoring for GH to cast her as a love interest for Marty.
After all, McClain is married to Jon Lindstrom who plays Kevin Collins so this could have been kept all in the family.
The actor created the role of Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) slimy attorney Martin back in 2019 and a year later he was revealed to be Laura’s brother.
When he was paired with Lucy, it was comedy gold but alas GH decided that Lucy and Marty have had their time and now it’s over. Such a shame after he was heartbroken thinking Lucy had died in late 2022.
Knight has also appeared on The Young and the Restless as Dr. Simon Neville, who was once involved with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) Perhaps he will turn up there and rescue Ashley from Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) hell.
Tune into General Hospital weekdays to see if we ever see Marty again.
