1000-Lb Best Friends star Vannessa Cross is extremely popular with TLC fans. Incredibly, she shed a lot of pounds after her weight loss surgery. But, the downside is that she had plenty of excess skin and couldn’t wait for its removal. Now she’s been hospitalized, but it’s not about skin removal surgery. Read on to find out what had happened.
1000-Lb Best Friends Star Had Trouble With Surgery Approval
After doing so well at losing weight, much like Tammy Slaton from 1000-Lb Sisters, the skin hung in big sheets around Vannessa’s body. But, it can be a big procedure and infection can set in. In fact, Tammy Slaton was warned that it comes with infection hazards and might require multiple surgeries.
In February last year, Vannessa Cross saw Dr. Proctor, who was reluctant to proceed with skin removal surgery. In fact, he told the TLC star that “right now’s not the time to have the surgery. You’re probably not quite ready yet.” Anyway, things went quiet for a bit until March, when she discussed the removal with Dr. Amy Alderman. But now, she is in hospital for something that happened well before that discussion.
Why Is The Vannessa Cross In A Hospital?
On Sunday, the 1000-Lb Best Friends fan-favorite took to Instagram Stories and shared that she was in the hospital because something went wrong with her gastric surgery. She told her followers:
Happy Sunday everyone I hope everyone has a blessed day. I have been in the hospital since Thursday, will be here for a few more days. The pouch where he cut my stomach and my intestines I ended up with an ulcer that they had to fix and put back together. I’m having to be fed through a tube in my stomach.
That seemed awful but Vannessa Cross went on to explain that those people who get gastric surgery need to be very careful. It’s not a miracle cure for obesity, and people need to be cautious about what they eat and do. This time, she warned:
I want to give out a warning to anyone that has had the gastric bypass, the sleeve, any of these surgeries, quit smoking cigarettes. If you do smoke cigarettes be real careful. Try not to eat spicy foods. There are limitations and just be careful in your activities. This has really been an eye-opening experience for me and just please pray for me and my family.
Hopefully, things will improve for Vannessa Cross soon. What are your thoughts about her being hospitalized with an ulcer? Are you aware that smoking and spicy foods simply don’t mix with the surgery?
