Nate wants to make amends with his cousins but has no easy path to resolution. It would seem like a soapy event will be needed to reopen Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) and Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) minds and hearts.

Meanwhile, the woman Nate loves, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), sees increasing evidence that he is interested in Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). That was elevated by the intimate conversation at the bicentennial celebration, with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) appearing at exactly the wrong moment to reinforce reality.

Victoria decided that she was interested in Nate. Elena has been with him for months after breaking up with Devon. But that does not matter to Victoria.

Heinle’s character senses an opportunity. She suspected Nate was not fully satisfied with Elena. Victoria was also aware that Nate had no qualms about seeking a romantic connection with her even though she was with his cousin at that time in the plot.

The fiftieth-anniversary celebration of Y&R also reminds viewers of Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) legendary romantic exploits. So, Victoria has not fallen far from the soapy tree.

Elena saw that Nate was veering away from morality months ago. He told her about Victoria’s plan to take control of Chancellor-Winters and install him as its new head.

That duplicitous scheme was not endorsed by Lily and Devon. They knew nothing of it until Nate felt compelled to tell them and only did so because of Elena’s positive presence.

She told Nate that the genesis of their relationship is not something she is proud of. She also realizes that his capacity to break trust might reflect an emerging pattern of behavior.

Nate believed he would lose Elena if he went through with that deal, and she accepted a prime job offer in Baltimore, Maryland. So, he told Victoria he was dropping out and then revealed his plan to Lily and Devon. But Nate purposely omitted Victoria’s name, with his loyalty to her showing.

Dominic is delivering his strongest performances since becoming the recast of this character in 2019. He is has a compelling storyline that includes no simple resolution. That makes for good soap on Y&R.
