Joe Jonas Gets Scrutinized On His Past Relationship With Underaged Gigi Hadid

Joe Jonas‘ relationship timeline is currently being dissected and scrutinized for possible call-out following his divorce announcement from his wife of 5 years Sofie Turner.

Social Media users went as far as digging up a 2015 article published by Teen Vogue where Jonas asked a then underaged Gigi Hadid out on a date.

It was uncovered that the singer asked a very young and underaged Hadid out on their first time meeting and was turned down immediately.

The article which was released in 2015 had the headline, “13-Year-Old Gigi Hadid Rejected Every Girl’s Disney Crush Joe Jonas.”

According to the article, the incident happened at the 2009 Grammys when Jonas was 19 years, and Hadid 13, but, the ongoing argument, and according to Entertainment Tonight shared that there was an error in the date as Hadid attended her first ever Grammys in 2010, and not 2009. And she was 14 years old then while Jonas was 20 years old.

According to the outlet, Hadid explained that she met Jonas, 34, “At the Grammys when I was 13 years old, he asked me to a baseball game, and I said no.” She continued, “He asked me to a baseball game, and I said no, I was so nervous; I literally didn’t even know what it meant to hang out with a boy.”

She went on to add, “And also, Grammys are on a Sunday, and I didn’t want to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, ‘No, maybe next time.’

In her revelation, Hadid noted that Jonas took it a step further by writing his phone number on a paper and giving it to her mom.

“I didn’t have my phone with me, and I don’t think he did either because we were at the Grammys, and so he wrote his number on a piece of paper and gave it to my mom,” said the supermodel.

However, the onus of the investigation isn’t about the accuracy of Hadid’s age being 13 or 14, but, it is about the age difference in Jonas’ love interests being women way younger than him.

Jonas is six years older than his ex-girlfriend Hadid, and seven years older than his soon-to-be ex-wife Sophie Turner.

Social media users are not finding it funny and they took to their various handles to express their distaste for it. Some users on X, formerly called Twitter, saw it as “creepy” and “gross.”

Someone said, “It’s wild how much we normalise and romanticize men asking out actual children on dates,” and equally called out the publication that promoted it, “Even progressive, smart publications like my beloved @TeenVogue got it wrong, in 2015.”

A TikTok user by the name @Yourbestfriendjoshua made a video criticizing the publication saying, “How is this article real? He’s clearly got a thing for younger women, because his soon-to-be ex-wife is seven years younger than him.”
