First of all, there is no life rule in this world or the world beyond that says children should copy their parents’ pattern of breeding kids at all. That being said, Jim Bob Duggar has no right whatsoever to interfere with the number of kids his children bring into the world. The “Counting On” alum Jill Duggar shared how experiencing such intrusion felt for her.
For what it’s worth, Jill, 32, is one of Jim Bob, 57, and Michelle Duggar‘s 19 kids. Apparently, for that reason, Jim wants his children to toe the line and make it some sort of a family legacy. In a recent appearance on “Ask Dr. Julie Hanks podcast” the mom of three and her husband Derick Dillard shared how they struggled with fertility issues and how “frustrating” Jim’s reaction was at the time.

Speaking with host Dr. Julie Hanks about her then situation she referenced her memoir “Counting The Costs” and explained that she shared her fertility struggle in it.
“In the book, I talk about the shift of going from feeling that pressure, being okay with having a lot of children, in that belief system that I grew up in.”
Jill went ahead to share that after her second son Samuel, 6, faced health problems sometime in 2017, she began getting worried about her fertility and had to look for a specialist.
She revealed that during that time, “To then having the shift of being like, do I trust in God with the number of children that I’m supposed to have, could also mean trusting Him if he doesn’t give us 20 kids.”
It got to a point where the TLC star began asking questions like, “Am I being punished for my lack of desire of having 20 kids? All those mind games that you play.” Derick chimed in, “Another toxic aspect of this culture. There’s also a sense of hierarchy that you’re less than if you have less kids,” he went on to add, “But even your parents have said: ‘Whoever has the most kids gets the house.'”
Although Jim clarified that her parents weren’t exactly serious with that statement, she recalled a time she openly said, “I don’t think I’ll be able to have any more kids.” And how her dad reacted, “My Dad pipes up. ‘We don’t really know do we know?'” She opined, “He’s trying to control the situation.”
Derick also went on to describe how that moment made him feel, “It was frustrating to me in that moment. This idea still that he was a gatekeeper for our information. We don’t know that yet. Let’s be careful what we say to other people. To whatever extent we want to share with people, we’re going to share with people.”
After Derick’s speech, Jill concluded with, “Think there was this boundary line that we didn’t have in place.”
