Is Yellowstone Boss Taylor Sheridan’s ‘God Complex’ Root Of Kevin Costner Conflict?

These days, Yellowstone is never out of the headlines due to alleged drama between the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, and its lead star, Kevin Costner.  Now, sources are alleging that Sheridan has a ‘God complex’ that is behind the drama between boss and star.

Filming for part 2 of season 5 of Yellowstone keeps being delayed, leaving fans begging for more. However, rumors did the rounds, saying that its lead star, Kevin Costner is behind the problems. Now, according to a source quoted by the Daily Mail, the Dances With Wolves actor felt dismissed when he raised concerns about the direction the hit modern Western show was taking.

The source claims, “He just felt like Yellowstone is headed in a direction that was not in line with their initial vision, and he was met with criticism, including that he should just stick to acting.”

Meanwhile, the source continued, stating that Sheridan has developed a “God complex” about the popular show.  In fact, they said Costner does still appreciate his Yellowstone family, despite the rumored drama. Moreover, the insider added that Costner would “forever be proud of and grateful for Yellowstone” and that its cast is like a family to him.

Reports that the show will end after season 5

The source’s words come after another report that Yellowstone’s fifth season would be its last. The New York Post also said it wasn’t clear if Costner would return for the final episodes. The new outlet quoted a source as saying:

We’re hoping it will be worked out. It’s too big a show for things not to be worked out. Hopefully, Kevin will return for the remaining episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like Yellowstone will end after this season.

Previously, news reports were full of the alleged cancellation of the show. In fact, back in February, reports said Yellowstone would be ending, while producers were looking to release a spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey. It was stated at the time that scheduling conflicts relating to Kevin Costner were to blame. Despite this, Paramount later denied that the show was about to end. In fact, the network’s spokesman said:

We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.

Meanwhile, more recently it was confirmed by McConaughey himself that he would be starring in yet another spinoff or prequel of the modern Western series. In fact, after a four-year hiatus, he is more than looking forward to getting back into acting.
