As hardcore fans recall, Ashland (as then played by Richard Burgi) came to Genoa City, Wisconsin, to listen to bids for Cyaxares. He played games with the three bidders, eventually allowing Victor and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) to buy the company from him.

Ashland then created a long-term plan that involved manipulating Victoria to further a merger ruse. Ashland claimed to be dying from cancer, which spurned Victoria to push the combination of the Locke Communications Group and Newman Enterprises. But that colossal lie was exposed, admitted, and forgiven.

Y&R Spoilers – Two Plot Points Simultaneously True

The depth of this story line involves two plot points being true at once. It is reasonable for Billy and others to distrust Ashland’s motives. At the same time, Ashland is not trying to con Victoria.

The character Newman now plays concluded that his terrible scheme cost him Victoria’s trust. He was right, but she was forced to reconsider Ashland’s claim that he had changed.

Ironically, Victor’s intense efforts to force Ashland out of town backfired, causing Victoria to realize that her feelings have not changed. So, she forgave Ashland, and they are planning to move to New York.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Billy Abbott Will Fight Big Apple Move

Billy told Victoria that he will legally fight her if she follows through on her intent to take their children to New York. Billy believes that Ashland is a threat to Johnny Abbott (Holden and Ryan Hare) and Katie Abbott (Sienna Mercuri).

It would seem hard to prove that Ashland is a negative influence based on others’ feelings about his cancer sham. Victoria appears to hold the better hand, but Billy is gambling she is not.

Yes, the above paragraph was a direct wink at Billy’s backstory. He could be portrayed as more unstable than Ashland by Victoria, who has decided to cut off her family and Billy.
