His decision comes after finally opening up to his husband about what really happened between him and Lewis Butler (Aidan O’Callaghan).

Months have passed since Lewis sexually assaulted Ben. The latter tried to keep the rate a secret. When he finally decided to file a police complaint, he was shocked to see Callum enter the interview room. The latter had no idea that his husband, Ben, was the one filing a complaint, and that’s the time when he tells everything.

Ben opens up to Callum about the attack. He explained that he tried to stop him, and Callum eventually realized that Ben was talking about Lewis. Ben also admitted that he hid the truth from his husband because of the fear that he might not believe him when he said that he got raped.

Callum apologized to Ben and said he doesn’t care if someone else is watching them on CCTV. Callum waited for Ben to finish his preliminary interview to report the sexual assault. Later on, he offered to accompany Ben for his second statement, but the latter was having second thoughts.

Ben was also hesitant when Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) suggested for him and Callum to sort things out. Ben told Callum that their split wasn’t caused by what Lewis did to him. He explained that they were already drifting apart even before the assault happened. Callum pleaded for another chance, but Ben decided to call it quits for good.

Aidan O’Callaghan, who plays the role of Lewis, confirmed that he’s leaving the show. The actor opened up about his time on the show and the exit of his character.

“In terms of the story, it’s a massive emotional week. As far as I know, this is Lewis’s last episode. But the door for me hasn’t been fully shut. I will just have to wait and see if my phone rings,” O’Callaghan said.

“On one side, it has been so rewarding as you get to play so much drama and this really intense arc, but on the other hand it is a really hard arc to carry through in terms of redemption,” he continued.
