General Hospital Spoilers: Carly’s Heart-Wrenching Decision – Will She Have Sonny Declared Dead?

General Hospital: Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) General Hospital spoilers tease that in Port Charles, NY Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will soon have to make a heart-wrenching decision in an upcoming episode of General Hospital. Will she give up on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and have him declared dead?

General Hospital Spoilers – Michael Corinthos Was Informed It Had Changed From Search And Rescue To Search And Discovery

General Hospital viewers will recall that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) was recently informed that the search and rescue mission for the missing Sonny had been reclassified as a search and recovery mission. That means that the searchers in New Jersey and the New York side of the Hackensack River and Newark Bay have given up on finding Sonny alive; they are just looking for remains now. Carly didn’t want to hear it. She had fallen asleep clutching Sonny’s Christmas stocking and dreamed he came home alive just before Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) had come to thank her for pushing her in the right direction.

Sasha had enrolled in a substance abuse recovery program. Then Michael came over right after receiving the call, when he was back at the Quartermaine mansion. Carly does not want to face the fact that Sonny may not have survived; and that is because she is unable to face her fears of a life without her husband, for which no one can really blame her. No one wants to give up hope that a loved one will return to them safe, and it hasn’t been that long ago that Carly and Sonny lost their only son together, Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig). They have a headstone and a grave, but nothing was ever found of Morgan either except a couple of personal effects. Carly cannot bear giving up on Sonny without closure in the way she and he had to give up on Morgan!

GH Spoilers – Carly Corinthos Must Face Facts – Will Something Of Sonny Corinthos’ Be Found, But Not Sonny Himself?

Carly cannot go but so long without closure regarding Sonny’s survival or his death. Something may be found that would suggest Sonny didn’t make it, and will be found in the search and recovery mission. Like with Morgan, it may not be Sonny himself or his body, but it might be something that belongs to Sonny that Carly knows he would never part with willingly. It could be a phone, a wallet, or perhaps even his gun. Most likely, however, it would be his wallet – bearing possibly family photos of Carly and his children, and his driver’s license. He may have also lost his suit coat that he was wearing when the bridge collapsed.

The wallet would be the one thing that would keep someone from identifying Sonny should he have survived but have sustained injuries that would cause amnesia or possibly a coma. With lack of other remains and the factors of weather, currents in the river, and the speed of the river currents and flow through the bay and out to sea, the searchers will likely convince Carly and his family that Sonny is dead.

It is Carly’s worst nightmare, but because she went through what she did with losing Morgan, she knows she must accept that Sonny is likely dead in order to have any type of closure and move forward with her life! She must make the heart-wrenching decision to have Sonny declared dead in order to continue with not only her life, but to be able to make business decisions concerning the coffee business, Pozzulo’s, and Volvonino’s Gym. Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will continue to handle Sonny’s “other business!”
