Benard was extremely excited to give his fans a glimpse of the book cover. But it seems like he’s the one who was given quite the shock by “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini and co-star Steve Burton.

The actor thought he was getting a piece of paper to post and share. What he didn’t expect was that it’s for his book.

“I didn’t know it was going to be the actual book jacket on a book! It was a trip. Holding a book, it felt like holding my history in my hand. It hit me in a way I didn’t think it would,” he shared.

Benard got even more excited when photos and videos of the reveal circulated in social media. Not only that, the public has been informed that they could pre-order the star’s memoir on Amazon for $25.19. The actor received countless messages offering their support and congratulations.

By the end of the day, Amazon’s pre-order sale for Benard’s autobiography skyrocketed and for that week, the book ranked first in the Television and Bipolar Disorder categories and second in Television Performer Biographies!

Benard appreciates all the support. “It’s a testament to how loyal my fans have been from day one [when I played Nico] on ALL MY CHILDREN. They have never, ever let me down. They come to everything I do. It’s almost like a party. They’re right there. And it makes me kind of emotional,” he said.

General Hospital News – A Beautiful Story

His book is due out on April 7 and he gets to tour with the book. In his memoir, he talks about his struggle with bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression. He said it was a “beautiful” story but also admitted that it wasn’t easy.

He shared that he cried when he read his autobiography. “I know it’s my story, but it reads like a movie. By the end of it, it all ties together. I just got hit!” he shared.

“It’s also very timely, because it seems like there are more people committing suicide now because of drugs and mental illness than ever before,” he continued. Benard’s primary goal is to help others who are also struggling with their mental health.
