The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Summer Nearing Goal – Billy Moving On From Phyllis

Summer (Hunter King) is nearing her goal on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She’s believed for awhile that Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson) weren’t a good match, but that ‘Silly’ would be.

‘Philly’ has arguably helped Billy strive toward his potential. That last line also considered and incorporated his most recent return to gambling because it was apparently brief.

Phyllis helped Billy to gain confidence. She became the romantic interest who wasn’t Vickie (Amelia Heinle). While ‘Villy’s’ love has always been sincere and both parents are fully committed to their children, which includes Billy’s son through Chelsea, Johnny (Holden and Ryan Hare), their interpersonal relationship was limited.

‘Villy’s’ inability to sustain a positive relationship seemed to contrast ‘Philly’s’ chemistry, which was joyful. Then Summer drove back into town in the car she stole from her boyfriend Pax’s and everything was turned upside down, inside out, backward, and what have you. Blah!

Billy understandably believed that Phyllis was solid. She was the one person who encouraged him, arguably more than anyone had in the past, to believe he had leadership potential. That’s why he chose to embrace the throne at Jabot. Contrast that with the Brash and Sassy’s mess.

Phyllis truly came to fall in love with Billy after having also been in love with Jack (Peter Bergman) on multiple occasions. She and Billy fought hard for their relationship, stepped back to reassess it awhile ago, and developed what seemed to be a stronger connection.

Now Summer has stumbled upon Phick’s revival. That was a fully unfortunate development for ‘Philly’ because Summer has already confronted her mother about the matter and in all likelihood will make sure Billy comes to know all the details.

Proof of Summer’s projected duplicity was her statement about receiving the first payment from Nick (Joshua Morrow) to keep quiet. ‘New Nick’ won’t be blackmailed by his daughter forever, which means Billy will learn about ‘Phick’. His focus begins to shift from Phyllis at that exact moment.
