The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Nate and Vickie’s Next Super Couple – Vate Has Real Potential

Nate (Brooks Darnell) has taken an interest in Vickie (Amelia Heinle) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. For now his concern is merely professional, as her declining health status could easily lead to a crisis. That link can enable a storyline door, which creates a ‘Vate’ relationship.

Vickie has been on her own for awhile, which is somewhat unusual for this particular character. Billy (Jason Thompson) remains connected to her life, but that’s fueled by their co-parenting status. Due to ‘Philly’ and the almost unbelievable potential for ‘Silly’ to supplant what Billy and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) have, Billy doesn’t seem to be a near-term romantic option for Vickie.

Y&R’s recast edition of Nate Hastings, in the form of Darnell, follows the brief run Walter Fauntleroy had in 2011. This year’s version of Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams) and the departed Nathan’s (as last played by Adam Lazzare-White) son was written back to Genoa City through Neil (Kristoff St. John). He put Nate in touch with Victor (Eric Braeden), who needed a concierge doctor to help him recover from his mini-stroke, caused by the attempts made on his life by J.T. (Thad Luckinbill).

Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) became Nate’s next patient, as Victor wanted his wife to receive specialized care in order to best handle her Multiple Sclerosis condition. Nikki then continued the referral, as Vickie was rightly seen as being in need of specialized medical attention.

Vickie’s defensive resistance to Nate was recently upended when she suffered a panic attack in her office. She reached out to Nate, who rushed to her side. He then took her back to Neil’s penthouse, where he sees Victor.

Even though she was aided, Vickie reverted to form and brushed Nate off. Clearly he won’t drop his concern for her well-being.

Considering the personal proximity Nate will maintain and the encouragement he’s likely to continue receiving from ‘Niktor’ to do so, Vickie will remain written in the doctor’s plot path. Unless she connects with the other new guy in GC, Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), or someone else, Vickie seems primed to form the base of a personal relationship with Nate this fall.
