The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Jack Makes Big Mistake – Ashley Won’t Forget What She Witnessed

Jack (Peter Bergman) has rarely bettered the ‘Moustache’ on ‘The Young and the Restless’. One of the reasons why he hasn’t involved his latest amateurish misstep, which was the conversation he had with Vickie (Amelia Heinle) at the Genoa City Athletic Club bar. Sure enough, that unnecessary public meeting allowed a happened-by Ashley (Eileen Davidson) to witness her brother talking with her workplace nemesis.

Yes, Jack played off Jabot’s CEO sitting aside of Newman Enterprises COO as nothing more than happenstance. As part of his cover story, he also acknowledged that ‘Ash’s’ name came up, in that he asked Vickie how Ashley was doing at the Dark Tower.

Doesn’t Jack realize that as soon as Ashley is called out on faux espionage charges that she’ll instantly flashback to her double-dealing brother’s odd get-together with Vickie? Newman’s CIO is no dummy and she’s sure to share what seems like an easy connect the two dots theory with Victor (Eric Braeden).

Of course, Vickie’s urge to get rid of Ashley also caused her to make a tactical mistake as well. But Victor’s coming perception of whatever his daughter did, or didn’t do is a separate topic.

Victoria was chafed that her father hired Ashley while she was away from Newman for one single day. The fact that he also invented a title for his former wife and the mother of his second-born daughter was even more agitating.

Then, those outrages were followed by Ashley having the unmitigated gall to tell Vickie that she agreed to accept Victor’s offer to join the company because she (Ashley) saw herself as having a legitimate path to the great man’s CEO chair when he’s gone.

Vickie is basically afraid that Ashley will do far more than annoy her. Instead, she believes that Miss Abbott will grab her legacy. Victor’s admission to Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) wasn’t heard by Vickie, but it confirmed that his first-born daughter’s insecurities are valid.

Jack fears that Ashley will use her inside baseball knowledge to crush Jabot. Newman’s money and access to power, combined with his sister’s know-how make this rival basically unbeatable in the long run. So why in the name of Wisconsin did Jack choose to meet with Vickie in public?
