General Hospital spoilers say that Dante might be gone, but don’t think that it’s forever. And while there’s no doubt that fans will definitely miss seeing actor Dominic Zamprogna in Port Charles, he says that viewers shouldn’t expect to see him reprise the role anytime soon.
Instead, General Hospital producers will have to look for a replacement as Dominic is looking to move on in his career. Would you be happy with a Dante replacement?
In a new interview with ABC Soaps in Depth, the actor says that while he enjoyed playing the role of Sonny’s son, it’s time for him to move on. He said in a tweet to his fans, “I feel I owe it to you awesome fans to tell you that I’ve taped my final scenes. Going to miss you all and my General Hospital family. Good things happening though. More to come.”
So you’ve been asking. I feel I owe it to you awesome fans to tell you that I’ve taped my final scenes. Going to miss you all and my GH fam. Good things happening tho. More to come..

The General Hospital fan favorite also revealed that he is already filming his next TV show, a gritty drama called “Tin Star.” So fans can tune in and see Dominic there.
Tin Star On Amazon Prime is available for your viewing pleasure!
Dominic first appeared on General Hospital as Dante back in 2009. Fans remember when Sonny (Maurice Benard) tried to kill the son he never knew he had with Olivia. It wasn’t until the detective infiltrated the Corinthos crime family and Sonny shot him did they learn that they were related. Over the years, Dante had become a more stable member of the Port Charles community. He even created a family with his wife Lulu and became a respected detective with the Port Charles Police Department.
But like all good things, Dante says that his time at General Hospital has most definitely come to an end. So far General Hospital producers have made no comments on whether they plan on recasting the role, but as soap fans know, anything can happen at anytime. Stay tuned!
