As a matter of fact, actor Maurice Benard, who plays the conniving mob boss Sonny Corinthos, revealed that he already has an exit plan from the show in mind.

During the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, a few General Hospital stars gathered to take group photos together. One fan managed to directly ask Maurice how much longer he plans on sticking around. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, he told the fan that he’s thinking about staying in Port Charles for just another two to three years.

Maurice Benard has been on the series since 1993. While there’s no doubt that some of his fans will be disappointed to hear that he’s already thinking about leaving the show, others think it’s high time that General Hospital producers recast the role of Maurice Benard.

Other stars including Laura Wright (Carly), Steve Burton (Jason), Donnell Turner (Curtis), Vinessa Antoine (Jordan) and Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie) were all on hand to answer questions from their fans.

So far Maurice Benard has not made any additional comments about his departure plans. For all anyone really knows, he might leave early or he might change his mind and stay on even longer. For now, fans will just have to continue to tune in to General Hospital daily to see their favorite Port Charles mob boss in action!
