Days of Our Lives Tyler Christopher Opens Up About His New Life In Salem, Leaving GH & More

For Tyler Christopher, it’s out with the old and in with the new. The handsome actor, who used to play Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital is opening up about his switch to Days of Our Lives.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Tyler says that he was scared to find out how fans would react to him leaving General Hospital and joining the cast of Days of Our Lives. After all, soap fans are a very loyal bunch.

He told the publication, “I didn’t know how the fans would react. General Hospital fans are General Hospital fans and Days fans are Days fans. That’s the way it’s always been and when someone comes in invading their territory, you don’t know how they’re going to take it. Everyone has been welcoming me with open arms, like, ‘We loved you over there, but we love having you in Salem,’ so it’s been very well-received.”

Tyler also makes it no secret that leaving Port Charles wasn’t a very easy decision to make. After all, he has plenty of loyal fans that would love to see him back on General Hospital. He said, “I’m sorry that we weren’t able to work it out when we were attempting to work it out. I was very close to coming back for a minute there. I’ve been gone before and come back, but this is my home now and I’m happy where I’m at and I’m happy with the story I’ve been given. But they still talk about Nikolas, so as long as his name is still being mentioned, I’m still alive in some way.”

Tyler also added that he misses all of the friendships he had with his co-stars and the crew of General Hospital. But at the same time, he’s mighty impressed with everyone at Days of Our Lives, too. Everyone works so fast. We do more per hour than General Hospital does, if you can imagine getting faster, and we do that here,” he added.
