Coronation Street Spoilers: Former EastEnders Star Janet Dibley Has Joined Cast

Coronation Street Spoilers: Former EastEnders Star Janet Dibley Has Joined CastCoronation Street” is making all the needed preparations to make sure their fans feel the spirit of Christmas this year following Phelan’s horrific murder spree. To make good on that promise, the show revealed that it will be casting a former “EastEnders” star and much-loved actress, Janet Dibley. The 59-year-old star was a favorite in the soap, which she was part of 20 years ago.

In 1997, Dibley played Lorna Cartwright. As a recovering alcoholic, she attended AA meetings, where she met Phil Mitchell. The two had an affair and the latter ended his marriage with his then wife Kathy.

After a two-decade-long hiatus, Janet returned to the screens as Lorna. But that wasn’t the last time she was seen in the show. In March 2016, Phil, who needed the help of his support group, met Lorna once again after a very long time.

According to Digital Spy, ITV confirmed that Dibley will join Corrie as Melinda, a primary school head teacher as part of a nativity storyline featuring Brian Packham (Peter Gunn). She is expected to appear in seven episodes.

Dibley’s short stint in “Coronation Street” is a great deal for the soap, and it’s no wonder that she was on top of the list for the role. She’s been well known for her excellent and notable performance in popular shows like “Broadchurch,” “Doctors,” “Fat Friends” and “Unforgotten.” Additionally, she starred in “The Two Of Us” with Nicholas Lyndhurst.

In a recent interview with the press, new “Coronation Street” boss Iain MacLeod said, “Without giving too much away. I wanted it to be a Christmassy Christmas.” “Obviously there’s a history in the soap of trying to go and do the Angie and Den Christmas where it’s all acrimony and divorce papers and vitriol.”

“That’s not really my preference, when you sit down as you try and digest your stuffing balls and sprouts, you need it to be warm and lighthearted in places and you need it to reek of Christmas.”
