Was Coronation Street's Phelan's Vinny and Andy’s Double Murder Too Gruesome For Viewers? Vote!Coronation Street viewers were shocked to see Vinny and Andy’s double murder during Friday night’s episode. As a matter of fact, many critics have blasted the series, claiming that the scene was too gruesome and definitely too dark for primetime television.

Deranged builder Pat Phelan showed everyone just how evil he really is by convincing his hostage Andy to shoot Vinny right before he murdered him. And now British television personality Fern Britton has even gone on the record to say the scene was one of the darkest she’s ever seen on any television soap in recent history.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Pat’s incredibly dark side. Throughout the years, Coronation Street fans have seen him assault, kidnap, cheat and torture his victims to no end. And unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he is going to stop anytime soon. Hours before the double murder, Pat denied sexually assaulting his daughter Nicola’s mother during a huge fight they had in a park. Instead, he merely called it a “transaction” between the two of them.

If that weren’t enough, many viewers have taken to their social media accounts to express just how disturbed they were over the double murder episode. Many compared it to the horror film Saw with some even likening Pat Phelan to the character Jigsaw.
