Nick looks at a singed picture that was found at the scene. Since Victor’s (Eric Braeden) around to answer sex ring questions, he pops in and identifies the man in the photo. When Vic reveals it’s Brent Davis, Nick decides to confront Dina (Marla Adams).

At the Abbott mansion, Dina seems a bit disoriented. She also thinks Jack’s (Peter Bergman) married to Patty (Stacy Haiduk). Nick arrives with accusations a little later. Jack refuses to let Nick interrogate his mother, so Nick agrees to leave. However, he insists he’s not giving up on his search for answers.

Afterward, Jack relays the new info to Dina. She remembers how she wanted to destroy Brent’s picture and all the terrible memories that came with it. Dina reels over the possibility that she set the fire, but Jack pulls his mom close and comforts her.

As Jack continues his efforts to focus on Dina, he breaks up with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). Once Nikki hears about Dina’s Alzheimer’s, she asks if Jack can really handle her care. Jack feels certain that he should step up. He’s sorry, but Dina needs him his full attention right now. Nikki gets emotional and notes that she’ll miss spending time with Jack.

Jack also catches Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson) canoodling on the desk at Jabot. They panic for a moment, but Jack doesn’t turn it into a big deal. He notes that they appear to have patched things up and turns Phyllis attention to brewing changes. She learns she’ll need to follow Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) orders while Jack steps away from the company.

Later, Phyllis and Billy enjoy some bourbon with Chelsea and Nick. They all vow to keep something that happened in New Orleans a secret. Back at the police station, Victor’s under fire. Christine (Laralee Bell) grills Vic about his involvement with the dating app. She even contends that Victor might’ve used the service himself.

Victor feels like Christine’s just mad that his time in prison was cut short. She admits she has people breathing down her neck over this. If there’s a way to put Victor behind bars again, Christine intends to find it. Paul eventually mentions some crucial evidence. The gun Crystal (Morgan Obenreder) used to kill Zack (Ryan Ashton) belonged to a member of the Newman family.
