The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Dina is Worth the Trouble – Jack and Ashley Fight For Her

The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Dina is Worth the Trouble – Jack and Ashley Fight For HerDina (Marla Adams) left John (Jerry Douglas) decades ago on ‘The Young and the Restless’, or so the story goes. An invented backstory, that’s been significantly lengthened in 2017, saw the terrific Adams return to Y&R. Her character has long been the bane of the Abbott family’s existence and that point still holds true in Florida.

As viewers saw, Graham (Max Shippee) whisked Dina out of Genoa City Memorial, put her on a plane and headed to a heretofore unknown destination. Their most likely landing spot, Florida, where his undead mother was known to be living, proved to be where Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) located ‘Daham’.

Okay, Dina and Graham aren’t a couple. But that mashed up nickname is funny. It’s also fits soapy circumstances where both characters are concerned.

Based on Dina’s post-GC life and how she’s acted since returning from Paris, one wonders if the ghost of John has changed his mind. Maybe, in retrospect, he’s glad she left him? Hopefully Y&R will somehow allow Douglas’ character to appear to Jack again, or maybe to Dina in a dream so the audience can be shown the answer to that question.

Dina ran off to find herself in the 1960’s. She dropped all responsibility on her devoted husband, forcing him to be a single parent. Some people convince themselves that they don’t have marital, or parenting skills and believe they are unable to overcome self-involved impulses. Balderdash! Dina had the wherewithal to head Mergeron, so she darn well could have made herself into a good mother over time.

However, it must be said that Madame Mergeron has made a sincere effort to make peace with her children since returning to town. Yes, she can be demanding and possesses a hair-trigger personality trait. But, despite all points noted above, she has exhibited genuine remorse, accepted most verbal insults that have been aimed at her and most importantly, does love her family.

It’s great that Jack and Ashley aren’t letting their mother get away this time. They were too young fifty years ago to stop her. Yes, Dina is worth the trouble.
