The Young and the Restless (YR) RUMOR: Dina Recalls Burning Brent’s Photo – Ashley Defends Mother Again

The Young and the Restless (YR) RUMOR: Dina Recalls Burning Brent's Photo – Ashley Defends Mother AgainDina (Marla Adams) can’t be held fully accountable for her actions on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The aftereffects of a stroke impacted her ability to think clearly. But she will eventually recall having accidentally set The Underground on fire, which will result in Ashley (Eileen Davidson) having to defend and help her unpredictable mother again.

Y&R fans saw Dina leave the Abbott mansion with an old record Jack (Peter Bergman) bought her. How she arrived at Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) nightclub and why she went there felt like a write-in to push the plot. Buying into the suspension of disbelief scenario, Genoa City devotees then watched as Dina pulled out a black and white photo of Ashley’s biological father.

It was unclear as to why Dina would have been in possession of Brent’s (Bert Kramer) picture decades after their apparently meaningless connection ended. But she was and destroying that memory nearly proved deadly for Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu), Mattie (Lexie Stevenson), Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry), Billy (Jason Thompson) and Jack, in that order.

Dina walked out unscathed and unaware of what she’d done. Her realization of the truth will help solve the fire’s mystery and spotlight Adams’ consistently solid performances.

Viewers haven’t been enlightened as to why Dina acted oddly in past instances, which could be seen as holes in the scripts of the last writing team. Then again, Adams’ character, like others in their advanced years, could simply have been evidencing the aging process. Sometimes facts aren’t overly mysterious, or dramatic.

Ashley’s reconnection with Dina has provided plenty of heart-wrenching and heart-warming scenes. The general reconciliation of both characters surely is one that various viewers can relate to. Redemption and everyone’s ability to choose love over resentment are two positive themes that are furthered by Dina’s desire to make peace and Ashley’s digestion of the past and genuine desire to defend her mother, despite being harmed.

Adams initially joined the cast of Y&R in the mid-1980’s and was rarely seen after that brief stay. Her return this year allowed all viewers, hardcore, new or in between to deepen their knowledge of Dina and the Abbott family. The serious issues that have been addressed make good soap.
