The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Tessa To Ink Music Deal – Devon’s First Streaming Star Emerges

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Tessa To Ink Music Deal – Devon's First Streaming Star Emerges

Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) clearly has talent on ‘The Young and the Restless’. It was obvious from the start that Y&R intended to showcase Fairbanks musical abilities. Linking her to Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), who enabled her protege to become Reed’s (Tristan Lake Leabu) guitar instructor was a purposeful plot vehicle that’s about to drive into another storyline.

The Underground has offered a positive jumping off point for Tessa’s burgeoning career. It offered her a nice-sized local audience and, with a mix of soap opera magic, the presence of a billionaire who’s just about to restart his own music career. Plus, it connected Tessa to Noah (Robert Adamson).

Tenured Y&R viewers recall that Tucker McCall (Stephen Nichols) helped his biological son break into the business earlier this decade. Devon (Bryton James) recently told his adopted dad that he wanted the Winters-Hamilton corporation to be involved in streaming music. That’s why Mr. Hamilton’s presence at Genoa City’s hot night spot wasn’t a surprise.

It’s smart that Y&R is shifting Devon’s focus back to the music industry. The topicality of the coming storyline should offer plenty of fresh takes for James’ character to build off of as he likely takes Devon in a post-Hilary (Mishael Morgan) direction.

The acquisition of Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) company allows Devon’s newly formed business to attain instant credibility across the globe. Accessing Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) acumen, Devon is sure to make his company a power player in his favored area (the music business) as well. That’s where Tessa and possibly Reed will be featured.

Savvy fans know that James is a godfather to Christel Khalil’s (Lily) son Michael and to Daniel Goddard’s (Cane) son Ford. Those personal connections show the fans that this trio is as close off-screen as they are on it.

Of course, James played Richie Crawford on ABC’s hit nighttime sitcom ‘Family Matters’ for many years (1990-1997) before switching to daytime. He became Devon on Y&R starting in 2004.
