The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Sharon Helps Crystal – Walk Back from Widow's Hill Continues

Sharon (Sharon Case) took a call from Crystal (Morgan Obenreder) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. And with that crisis hotline scene the rebuild of Case’s iconic daytime character continues. Yes!

Last year at this time Sharon would have been the caller, instead of the sage. Actually, for the last 10-plus years Sharon would have been the woebegone nut who just couldn’t resist the pull toward Widow’s Hill. That’s right, a ‘Dark Shadows’ reference was inserted into this Y&R feature because it fits.

Y&R Star Sharon Case News And Updates

ABC’s ground-breaking soap is a great binge watch if you have a few years to digest more than 1,000 episodes. Yes, this author is serious about that Collinsport point.

In the meantime, or concurrently, Genoa City observers know that Sharon has broken the spell she fell under.

Having dealt with her mental health issues and in overcoming the Sully is really Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) storyline, Sharon has centered herself in a way that hasn’t been seen in years, if ever.

It’s arguable that the 2017 edition of Case’s character could be the strongest in Y&R’s history. It’s true that this legacy persona was on generally good footing in the 1990’s. However, her age and life experiences at that time hadn’t allowed for a mature perspective to take hold.

Case fans have been urging Y&R to write more realistic storylines for Sharon since shortly after Nick (Joshua Morrow) made the Phyllis (then played by Michelle Stafford) mistake. Instead, a series of writing teams rode a rut that had Sharon hearing voices, seeing ghosts, committing crimes and generally acting like a goof. That direction may have been okay for about a year, but then it should have been let go.

Case’s character was made to jump off the cliff numerous times. How refreshing it is to see that Y&R’s current writing team realizes the potential in restoring this particular character. Respect for Sharon is all that’s ever been desired. Now, finally, it’s been realized.
