The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Phyllis Doesn’t Heed Nick’s Warning – Chick Hardly a Role Model

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Phyllis Doesn't Heed Nick's Warning – Chick Hardly a Role Model

Nick (Joshua Morrow) doesn’t like Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) being with Billy (Jason Thompson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He recently saw ‘Philly’ at The Underground and told his ex-wife that his feelings about ‘Villy’ were transferable. Nick feels Phyllis, like Vickie (Amelia Heinle) can do better. But is that true for Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) as well?

Okay, yes, Chelsea is withholding information from Nick about Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) true paternity. That fact alone doesn’t make her look good to outside observers.

But Y&R fans know that Chelsea and Adam (Justin Hartley) didn’t want to add to hurt Nick while he was grieving and Christian was believed to be dead when ‘Chadam’ made its decision. It is reasonable that Chelsea has maintained Adam’s wishes after his (assumed) death. Of course her currently held belief has also been influenced by Victor (Eric Braeden).

So Nick infamously abandoned Sharon (Sharon Case) after Cassie (Camryn Grimes) died and took up with Phyllis (then played by Michelle Stafford). That easily rivals, if not tops whatever Nick could throw in Billy’s face. Plus, viewers know that he’s withholding information from Chelsea about his dad’s direct connection to Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), who’s believed to have killed Adam.

In actuality ‘Philly’ isn’t hurting anyone. Phyllis and Billy are single, they care about each other and want to be together. Yes, they did wound Jack (Peter Bergman), but he seems to have moved onto Gloria (Judith Chapman). That stunning pairing could be sustainable, though it’s too early to tell.

Phyllis would be wise to reject all outside takes. Tognoni’s version of Phyllis is far softer than Stafford’s, however she’s no pushover. So, she’ll listen to Nick’s counsel where their daughter (Summer, Hunter King) is concerned, but likely continue to see his Billy beliefs as biased.

It’s understandable that Nick would base his opinion of Billy on ‘Villy’ and that he would remain protective of Phyllis because he actually does care about his ex-wife. His own actions toward Sharon in the mid-2000’s and his choice to cover-up Victor’s connection to Adam’s supposed death in 2017, puts Nick’s instincts about Billy in conjecture territory, even if they prove to be apt.
