The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Kevin Blinded By Love – Chloe Albatross Instead of Soul Mate

Kevin (Greg Rikaart) still can’t see who Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) really is on ‘The Young and the Restless’. No, she’s not actually a large, web-footed sea bird. But comparing Kevin’s three-time fiance to an albatross is apt based upon current circumstances.

Chloe never recovered from Delia’s (Sophie Pollono) tragic death. Her hatred of Adam (Justin Hartley) caused her to eventually shoot her perceived nemesis with a dart gun last September and then, apparently blow up the cabin he was staying in.

It remains possible that she pulled him out ahead of time and is holding him hostage, or the seemingly bulletproof character somehow made it out alive in some other fashion.

Kevin does believe that he loves Chloe and maybe that emotion is complete. But his recent acceptance of her rushed marriage proposal is unbelievably misguided. Dysfunctional relationships exist when one or both parties aren’t able to see the other person’s mind, heart and soul. All three elements must be visible in order for any couple to be in balance.

Devoted fans of Y&R recall when Kevin first arrived in Genoa City. To put it mildly, he was socially challenged. Rikaart’s character was created to broaden Michael’s (Christian Le Blanc) backstory. Like his brother Mikey, Kevin had deep-seeded problems of his own.

‘Terrible Tom’ Fisher (Roscoe Born) was a monster who tortured Kevin when he was married to Gloria (Judith Chapman). Michael always felt guilty about having left his kid brother, who was forced to face the punishment of home imprisonment inside a closet. Those childhood experiences pounded Kevin’s essence and eventually forced him to turn violent.

Free will means that humans aren’t robots. These evolved creatures have the ability to think and act for themselves. Kevin eventually chose to stop using the excuse that his past made him behave recklessly.

Chloe ran wild with Kevin during his ‘Chip monk’ days, which followed other moments of anti-social behavior. His alternate ego appeared when he literally donned a chip monk costume and broke various laws.

A famous scene in the woods showed Kevin speaking to the chip monk, who appeared to be a separate person. However, after removing the head, Kevin saw himself and then returned to reality. This time will be different, as Chloe is wearing the ugly mask that’s about to be ripped off.
