The Young and the Restless POLL: Chloe Admits Guilt – Was The Reveal Worth The Wait?

Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) finally admitted her guilt to Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The long-awaited reveal of one-half of this extended arc played out this week. But fans are asking each other if the wait was worth it?

The foreshadowed end to this storyline was uncovered in stages in recent weeks. The dialogue drip that accompanied the resolution to Chloe’s involvement in Adam’s (Justin Hartley) apparent death allowed all Y&R viewers enough time to contact fellow fans who may have drifted away from the show after Hartley departed.

The black gloves Chloe recently took off when she showed Chelsea her engagement ring were a major wink at the audience. Soap devotees with sharp mind’s never forgot that an unknown person, wearing black leather gloves, put a ring into a top dresser drawer during the same day that Adam’s memorial service was held. Previews of coming attractions not only served as a crescendo, but also were meant as alert advertising, intended to draw a maximum number of viewers.

Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) renewed interest in Adam’s death enabled him to discover the GPS tracker Chloe placed in Connor’s (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) favorite toy, have her smartphone pinged, place a tracking device in the wheel well of her car, see her throw away a duffel bag, recover said bag and reveal its contents and confront the bride-to-be at the bachelorette party he threw for her. The compressed pace of that series of events was telling.

It has been rumored that Hendrickson’s contract isn’t being renewed, or that the actor is taking another hiatus from the show. Of course, the resolution to Chloe’s part of the Adam-exit storyline would naturally coincide with Hendrickson’s exit.

Egan and Hendrickson once again delivered a dual tour de force. Best friends, to enemies, to friends and back to enemies again. These great actors elicited gut-level raw emotion, knocking out the audience with their admission-of-guilt scene. Outstanding! At least that’s what this scribe thinks.
