Emmerdale Spoilers: Shock Storyline Ahead For Ross Barton

Emmerdale favorite Ross Barton will soon find himself in a titanic, trending storyline according to his portrayer Mike Parr. That’s the good news. The bad news is he can’t divulge a thing about the sensational issue-driven plot. But that doesn’t mean we can’t read between the lines and speculate in true soapy fashion!

Despite all the secrecy surrounding the extraordinary storyline, showrunner Iain MacLeod has revealed a few fascinating deets.

According to the exec, the upcoming plot will be complex and make its debut in 2018. It’s described as an important talking point, one that required Parr to do in-depth research.

The talented actor told Inside Soap’s 2018 Yearbook, “It’s a big subject that we’re going to be tackling and I’ll have to do a lot of research for it, which really excites me. It takes me back to my days of studying at drama school!”

That must sound like music to his fans’ ears since Parr hasn’t been seen much compared to years past, even though lately he’s been on the front burner as a part of the,  “Who Killed Emma?” murder mystery.

Will his upcoming storyline be a part of or distinct from the Emma saga? No one is dropping any hints just yet. But the fact remains that Ross is still one of several suspects in Emma’s demise.

Parr must be thrilled with the opportunity to expand his acting chops. In an interview with The Metro he said that he felt his character, “lost his edge somewhat of late,” and hoped for the chance to rebound in the future.
