Emmerdale Spoilers: Did Self Harm Terror Twist Deserve A Warning - Soap Crossed A Line?Last night’s episode of Emmerdale contained scenes that would be described as shocking. Aaron (played by Danny Miller) had an emotional scene in which he harmed himself with a knife. The soaps are usually pretty good for giving viewers warnings for troubling content but last night was forgotten. There was no appeal for viewers with sensitivity to be wary or any helplines for those affected.

This is common practice with topics such as death, mental health and trauma. But for some reason Aaron’s scene was over looked.

Aaron had previously in the episode reunited with his husband Robert (plated by Ryan Hawley) and things looked alright for the young man for a brief minute. But this did not last long as the pair were fighting again almost immediately, this time it was due to Robert’s child.

Rebecca is pregnant after an affair which Aaron has not totally forgiven. It was after Rebecca’s presence that Aaron went to find comfort in drugs, a pastime he frequented in prison. But his dealer was less than kind, and the two fought.

It was only due to Cain that things didn’t get much worse. All this stress lead to Aaron going back to his old ways of self-harm. We saw him taking a knife to his stomach in an emotional scene.

A scene which called for more attention that it got, as there was no warning for the episode. Despite self-harm being a mental health issue there was no assistance offered as there often is with other triggering problems. Many fans were outraged that there was no warning for the self-harm and are complaining that the show could be so reckless as this could have triggered many fans who suffer from similar issues as Aaron.
