Coronation Street Star Bradley Walsh Joins Doctor Who Cast As Jodie Whittaker's New AssistantIt was recently revealed that Jodie Whittaker is joining the cast at Doctor Who. She will play the first female doctor and will be joined by a male assistant in the Tardis. Fans also know the actress from her role on Broadchurch, too. Spoilers indicate that Whittaker will be joined by Coronation Street actor Bradley Walsh for the new season as her assistant.

Unfortunately for Jodie she had to keep her new role a secret from everyone in her life, including her own family. She even had to use a secret code word whenever she talked about the project to her agent.

According to the Daily Mirror, she said in an interview with Loose Women, “I basically whispered for three months and it was tedious even in my own kitchen. It is because I knew the idea for the reveal. And I thought if we can get that it will be amazing. I was under the radar the entire time.”

She further explained, “There was this long process, as it should be. They needed to make sure I was right for the part. You have to put yourself in a position where you are going to fight for a role like this, because the fans are owed that.”
