Weekly Soap Ratings December 21-25: ‘Days’ Continues To Drop -‘Y&R’ And ‘B&B’ Solid – ‘GH’ Not Improving

Weekly Soap Ratings December 21-25: 'Days' Continues To Drop -'Y&R' And 'B&B' Solid - 'GH' Not ImprovingThe soap opera ratings for the week of December 21-25 are in, and according to a report from Soap Opera network – the holidays were not good to some of our favorite daytime dramas.  Of course, ‘Days,’ ‘GH,’ ‘Y&R,’ and ‘Bold’ were all preempted or aired re-runs on Christmas Day (and some on Christmas Eve) – but those numbers were not averaged in to the overall stats for the week.

Days Of Our Lives

‘Days‘ raked in 2,465,000 in total viewers for the weeks of December 21-25, which is dead even with their stats from the week before – and actually down 29,000 from their total viewers during the holidays last year.  It looks like the excitement of the 50th anniversary celebration on the NBC soap might be starting to wear off.  Even worse, the key demo (women 18-49) is steadily dropping and down 115,000 viewers from this time last year.

General Hospital

‘General Hospital’ ratings tease that the ABC soap did well in overall viewers, bringing in 2,850,000, however ‘GH‘ is still losing in the key demos that matter.  The daytime drama actually lost 70,000 viewers in the women 18-49 group.  This time around the holidays are tough though, because we all know how busy that demo group is preparing for Christmas.

The Young And The Restless

‘Y&R’ had a solid ratings week during the holidays – apparently fans were genuinely interested in the festivities in Genoa City.  According to Soap Opera Network’s report, the CBS soap is up in overall viewers and key demos.  Not only did ‘The Young And The Restless’ gain 65,000 viewers since the week before, but they actually gained 95,000 more viewers than their holidays week in 2014.

The Bold And The Beautiful

‘B&B’ had a decent week for the holidays – they gained in overall viewers, however did suffer a loss in the key demo of women 18-49.  Of course, like we noted before – the week of Christmas happens to be a busy time for that demo and they may not have time to watch their favorite soaps.  ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ raked in a total of 3,683,000 – that’s 86,000 more than the prior week.

Over all, it looks like ‘The Young And The Restless’ had a solid week – with ‘B&B nipping at their heels.  ‘General Hospital‘ has seen better ratings, but they aren’t exactly dismal.  Things are not looking good for ‘Days Of Our Lives.’ How did your favorite daytime drama do?  What do you think NBC can do to improve ‘DOOL’s ratings? hare your thoughts and theories in the comments below!
