‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Billy Gains Opportunity For Redemption Through Chloe’s Return

Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is likeable, but he can also be a rogue. Yet, like all human beings, unexpected opportunities at redemption often await. That’s why Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) return to ‘The Young and the Restless’ provides a chance for Delia’s (Sophie Pollono) dad to push his life in a more positive direction.

The epic arc that resulted in Delia being killed still reverberates through Genoa City. The tragic, unforeseen, death of that specific child character deeply affected many fictional lives, along with the audience. Now, less than three years after those horrific series of events, Billy is being given a plot path that might allow him to make partial amends on ‘The Young and the Restless’.

It’s harsh to say that Billy enabled Delia’s death. But, he was the one who carelessly left his daughter alone in his car with her dog Dash. Billy (then played by Billy Miller) infamously pulled off to the side of a dark road, entered a small store to purchase ice cream and returned to find his vehicle empty. His frantic search revealed Delia’s limp body, with her life having been extinguished by the writers of ‘The Young and the Restless’.

Fast-forward in soap time: Chloe secretly obtained a sample of Billy’s genetic material and was about to leave town. Her misguided intent was to create Delia 2. She briefly returned, revealing through a phone call to a nanny that a new daughter had actually been born. Now, in the summer of 2016, she’s back again. Still attempting to overcome mental health challenges, but also likely to confirm that her second child exists.

It hasn’t been fully confirmed that Bella (Cali May Kinder) is Billy’s child, as she could also be Kevin’s (Greg Rikaart). However, if she is Billy’s blood, he’ll have an opportunity to be a better co-parent with Chloe and possibly, revisit a relationship with her. Yes, Billy helps to take care of the children he’s had with Vickie (Amelia Heinle). But, Bella could offer the closest chance he’ll ever have of fully addressing the understandable guilt he painfully retains in Delia’s regard.
