‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Victor Sways Family Tide – Incurable Meddler Causing Problems Again

Victor (Eric Braeden) is such a meddler on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Viewers suspend disbelief whenever this corporate titan makes time to involve himself in numerous family affairs. And here he is again, rudely spouting off to Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) about the Christian (Jamie and Alister Tobias) matter.

Nikki has been walking a thin line lately. She’s offered compassion to Dylan (Steve Burton), while also supporting Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) predicament. Her motherly instincts have been spot on, which has allowed her children to consider compassion instead of scorn. But her husband’s interjections have only served to exacerbate matters, as usual.

Poor Dylan can never catch a break. Oh, he’s been involved with some terrific women. But baby matters just haven’t worked out between him and Avery (Jessica Collins), Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) or Sharon (Sharon Case). Avery lost their child, so ‘Davery’ was just a victim of circumstance. But, Chelsea lied about Dylan being Connor’s (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) father and Sharon just withheld the truth about faux Sully, which created the current firestorm.

Despite all of the above, Victor proposed the preposterous theory that Dylan knew about Christian’s paternity from the jump. He didn’t, yet that hasn’t stopped the Moustache from stirring trouble where plenty already existed. Some personality types aren’t happy unless dissension is in the air and Mr. Newman Enterprises always fits this bill.

Nick was actually sympathetic to his brother. Then Victor bombarded his common senses with legalistic hardball talk. That push, paired with Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) ill-fated attempt to let Sharon see Christian, was enough to alter Nick’s outlook. Now his little boy’s allergic reaction has also become a point of contention. Thanks ‘Black Knight’.

The possibility of a peaceful resolution to this entire messy matter seems far off. Eventually this family drama will subside. But, as always, Victor’s opinion swayed the tide. If only those closest to him would find a way to neutralize the darker parts of his behavior. But that’s part of this character’s story and surely always will be.
